Ask The Wisdom Teeth Dentist

It's white where my wisdom teeth were pulled. Should i be concerned?

Dr. Kelley

Question: I had my wisdom teeth removed last friday I tried to avoid smoking as much as possible, i had a few drags from a friend every once in a while to help with my cravings. I recently bought one of those little mirrors to look at your teeth and there is a whitish color where my top wisdom teeth were pulled. The bottom teeth seem to be healing over fine though. Is this something i should worry about?

Dr. Kelley: No. Continue to keep the areas clean where the teeth were removed. The white is probably just necrotic tissue, it will sluff off as the area heals, although if there seems to be a problem, you should consult the dentist that did the extraction.
