Could Wisdom Teeth Fill in Gaps Using Braces?

Dr. Kelley

Question:  My daughter is 30 years old and has lost two upper teeth (just behind the biscuspids on each side--no permanent teeth there and one baby tooth came out 5 years ago and the other one is broken and needs to come out). She has wisdom teeth that have come in properly on the top. Can braces move them to fill the gaps she has? Odd question, I know, but most would say pull them and put in implants---but can orthodontia do the same thing with less intervention? Thank you!

Dr. Kelley: Maybe. I would recommend a consutlation with an orthodontist. They would have to make this decision. If the spaces are not too large and the surrounding teeth do not have to be moved too far, it can be done.
