Question: is it proper to have all 4 wisdom teeth taken out at one time or should you do them 2 at a time?
Dr. Kelley: Yes, having all 4 pulled at once is normal, it will save you time, and you'll only be sore once.
Question: I had my wisdom teeth removed last
friday I tried to avoid smoking as much as possible, i had a few drags
from a friend every once in a while to help with my cravings. I
recently bought one of those little mirrors to look at your teeth and
there is a whitish color where my top wisdom teeth were pulled. The
bottom teeth seem to be healing over fine though. Is this something i
should worry about?
Dr. Kelley: No. Continue to keep the areas clean
where the teeth were removed. The white is probably just necrotic
tissue, it will sluff off as the area heals, although if there seems to
be a problem, you should consult the dentist that did the extraction.
Question: My daughter is 30 years old and has
lost two upper teeth (just behind the biscuspids on each side--no
permanent teeth there and one baby tooth came out 5 years ago and the
other one is broken and needs to come out). She has wisdom teeth that
have come in properly on the top. Can braces move them to fill the gaps
she has? Odd question, I know, but most would say pull them and put in
implants---but can orthodontia do the same thing with less
intervention? Thank you!
Dr. Kelley: Maybe. I would recommend a consutlation
with an orthodontist. They would have to make this decision. If the
spaces are not too large and the surrounding teeth do not have to be
moved too far, it can be done.
